For fiction Extinctions (Josephine Wilson, UWAP); for poetry Fragments (Antigone Kefala, Giramondo; for Australian history Valiant for Truth (Neil McDonald, NewSouth), Evatt (John Murphy, NewSouth), Atomic Thunder (Elizabeth Tynan, NewSouth) and A Handful of Sand (Charlie Ward, Monash University Publishing); and finally for the Nonfiction Award Mick: A Life of Randolph Stow (Suzanne Falkiner, UWAP)
NewSouth congratulates John Murphy and Elizabeth Tynan for CHASS Prize Shortlisting
NewSouth Publishing congratulates John Murphy, author of Evatt: A Life, and Elizabeth Tynan, author of Atomic Thunder: The Maralinga Story, on being shortlisted for the 2017 CHASS Australia Prize for a Book. The Book Prize is awarded to an Australian author whose non-fiction book contributes most to Australian cultural and intellectual life. The winner will receive $3,500.
